Mark Liu, JERDE Shareholder, Senior VP, Managing Director of China expressed his sincere thanks to Ren Zhe and his studio on behalf of JERDE. Mark presented JERDE's team of project consultant partners (Savills, Integral Vim, ARUP, Atelier Mearc, RDI, Terra Novae, CSY, Donewin, Ostuni, Warema, M SPACE, Steelcase, PORCELANOSA, Milliken, Dyson, Lamett) with trophies on behalf of JERDE as a thanks for their support in the design and construction of the office.

The site selection for this office began at the end of 2020 and the office construction was officially completed in February 2022. Mark said, "We have searched the most distinctive office areas in Shanghai, hoping to find a place with a strong cultural atmosphere. Of course, there are many office buildings designed by JERDE in Shanghai, these office buildings are very comfortable and many of our clients have invited us to move in. But as designers, we are always looking for new challenges. This site, located in the Huangpu District, allows our design team to give full play to their creativity. The building itself has a deep historical heritage, more than 100 years ago it was the first power plant built in Shanghai. We fully protected the integrity of the interior of the building during design and construction."

The interior design concept for the new office presents a refreshing combination of Chinese and Western styles. Regarding the design and creative inspiration of the office, Hao Li, Vice President, Design Principal said, "We hope to reflect the cultural fusion between Eastern and Western in the design of this office, so we added some traditional Chinese elements based on modern western design to make a truly special space. The company's six-month-long site selection lead us to the site of the Shanghai Nanshi Power Plant, its profound uniqueness was exactly what we were looking for in a space."

JERDE entered the Chinese market in 2000 and has designed many classic projects that are favored by visitors and clients alike. In 2021, JERDE established a design team in the Chinese market for the first time. "For [JERDE's] Chinese team, we are not limited to Chinese projects, we have a global perspective and we are passionate about connecting with the world. JERDE's Shanghai office will work closely with JERDE's other offices throughout the world to create truly unique, thoughtful, and immersive environments to our clients and the market."
