JERDE's Jeri Oka Featured as Keynote Speaker at Conference on Landscape Architecture
JERDE's Jeri Oka, Shareholder, SVP, Senior Design Principal was a keynote speaker at this year's Congreso Nacional Arquitectura De Paisaje (CNAP) online conference on Wednesday, November 3rd.
Organized by the Society of Landscape Architects of Mexico, A.C., and co-organized by Anahuac University Mexico, the topic of discussion was Landscape and Wellbeing: Design, Health, and Sustainable Social Development.
Jeri leads JERDE's UrbanCORE group, which is responsible for project pre-design, programming, and repositioning – a practice very much focused on the experiential elements of a project. She discussed various ways to implement landscape design as a tool to positively impact human wellbeing, using JERDE projects as examples.
During this engaging and informative event, Jeri highlighted JERDE's Oxigeno as a model Public Parks project, Roppongi Hills as an innovative Community Garden space, and Haitang Bay Resort & Spa as the ultimate Wellness Resort. She discussed how each of these projects have positively impacted their communities and promoted health and wellness, noting that people – now more than ever – understand the need for innovative strategies to transform everyday spaces into experiential destinations that place an emphasis on health and wellbeing through creative landscape design.
