Shenzhou Peninsula Master Plan

  • Shenzhou, China 2008
  • Total Building Area : approx 913,000 sqm

The Shenzhou Peninsula Resort Center is designed as a complete community, combining retail, residential, hospitality, office space, entertainment, recreation and community functions. A pedestrian spine runs through the middle of the resort center and connects all the areas of the plan. The first phase of the development is centralized around the pedestrian spine and is intended to create enough critical mass as well as programmatic variety to set up the Resort Center as a significant destination from day one. Running from west to east between the beach and the lagoon and connecting the three main zones of the Resort, the pedestrian spine is designed as an attractively landscaped street lined with retail and restaurants, including water elements and shade structures that provide residents and visitors with the experience of a leisurely promenade. The community streets are designed in a more organic manner, without curbs, thereby promoting shared use of the street. The beachfront parcels are reserved for low rise hospitality or residential use. A larger resort hotel parcel is located on the eastern edge of the Resort Center, adjacent to the Sheraton site. Furthermore, low rise residential areas are located on the east side of the plan adjacent to the residential golf community. A hospital and school are located to the north.
