Phoenix Futures Master Plan

  • Phoenix, Arizona 2004
  • Site Area: 700 acres

The Phoenix Futures Master Plan is designed to foster revitalization and development in the areas surrounding it. Along with cultural and entertainment offerings, and dense residential neighborhoods, the master plan includes open spaces for residents and visitors. Its parks, plazas, sidewalks and terraces are designed to be places of beauty, activity and social interaction. This vision is similar to the transit-oriented "smart growth" currently advocated in California's urban communities. The approach seeks to provide needed services like retail, hotels and housing (both market and affordable) and transportation to urban, suburban or industrial areas in the form of dense "urban villages."
